About PSU's Center for Science and the Schools
Supporting CarbonEARTH is Penn State's Center for Sciences and the Schools(CSATS), whose purpose is to develop mutually beneficial and sustainable relationships between K-12 schools and faculty and researchers in Penn State’s science, technology, and mathematics (STEM) colleges. CSATS resides in the College of Education, and is staffed by science education faculty who work closely with scientists and engineers to develop teacher professional development opportunities and outreach projects that apply research-based elements of learning theory to enhance K-12 science education in the state. CSATS includes experts in science education research and elementary and secondary science teacher preparation. CarbonEARTH Co-PI Annmarie Ward is the Associate Director of CSATS.
